Our Mission

Our planet and our societies are in trouble. We face growing income inequality and poverty as well as increasing polarization at every level of society. The current development paradigm is failing. To ensure a positive future, it is essential to advance a new paradigm of development that is both practical on a day-to-day basis and visionary, fully committed to social justice and equity. This includes leveraging artificial intelligence to support workforce development initiatives and empower manufacturers within the manufacturing industry.

The Formation of the Manufacturing Federation for a Manufacturing Renaissance: Four years ago, around 20 organizations came together to form a manufacturing federation aimed at revitalizing the industry. The founding organizations included The American Sustainable Business Network, Democracy Partners, representatives from the Basque Country, The Century Foundation, the Great Cities Institute at the University of Illinois, Progressive Democrats of America, Mechanism, the African American Leadership and Policy Institute, and others.

An International Network

We are an international network of strategic leaders who share a common vision, believing in praxis—combining intellectual work with organized efforts that test and enhance our vision and policy—a think/do approach. Praxis is defined as "A venture-building ecosystem advancing redemptive quests, supporting founders, funders, and innovators motivated by their faith to address the major issues of our time." That’s us.

As a manufacturing federation, we have always been globalists, seeking out best practices for application in our communities—like Emilia Romagna IT, Canada, the Basque Country, Germany, and Australia. Active engagement with the international community—as we recently witnessed with our Canadian partners—opens the door for more interesting and influential discussions and more effective projects. This exchange fosters opportunities for exchange trips, consulting expertise, joint papers, joint projects, and funding.

The Federation for a Manufacturing Renaissance is dedicated to ensuring that the revitalization of our manufacturing sector is achieved through the use of artificial intelligence and technology for broad benefit, completely within the public interest, while addressing the core issues that have led to such a volatile and dangerous period.

Five Foundational Pillars: The Federation for a Manufacturing Renaissance has been established on five foundational pillars:

  1. Shape industrial policy on a national, state, and local level in a way that is profoundly inclusive, anchored in economic democracy, and committed to community development. Our policy will reflect global "best practices."
  2. Initiate the growth and development of projects in local communities that retain and strengthen local manufacturing ecosystems, empowering manufacturers to thrive.
  3. Create a community that learns from and utilizes the talents of its member organizations.
  4. Educate the broader public as well as policy leaders on the importance of industrial policy and the need for workforce development to rebuild our manufacturing ecosystem.
  5. Establish an international membership that builds strong relationships with projects representing best international practices related to building the global manufacturing ecosystem.
